Sam Rowan

Project Coordinator

Sam joins TIRF having over 15 years of experience in the sport both as a Player, Coach, and volunteer in both Toronto and Vancouver. His most recent experience working in a variety of educational fields at Post-Secondary Institutions across Toronto, alongside his experience as a Rugby coach at a variety of schools across the city is something that he looks forward to taking and applying to his new position as TIRF’s Project Coordinator. Having been attracted to the sport of Rugby through High School, Sam recognizes the importance of making sure the sport of Rugby remains accessible to youth from a variety of athletic and socioeconomic backgrounds due to its ability to provide individuals the opportunity to become part of a community.

Sam’s educational background in Sociology and Anthropology has made him interested in how growing societal inequality is becoming pervasive in youth sport, and how sport and recreation provide opportunities for youth to develop both athletically and socially. Through his time in the role as Project Coordinator, Sam hopes to develop positive relationships with communities throughout Toronto in order to grow interest in the sport of Rugby for those who otherwise would not be able to.
