Registration Eligibility: Children

TIRF offers a number of free drop-in programs and neighbourhood house leagues for children between the ages of 5 to 12 during the summer months.

Drop-in and House League participants:

  • attend an elementary or middle school in one of Toronto’s neighborhood improvement areas
  • reside in one of Toronto’s neighborhood improvement areas
  • demonstrate financial need (determined by a case-by-case basis)

 

Registration Eligibility: Youth/Jr Rugby

We believe that Rugby is a tool for social good. We take a strengths-based approach to developing skills on and off the pitch. Each youth/Jr Rugby that registers as a TIRF player has the opportunity to develop physically, through participation in rugby and also academically through TIRF’s scholastic and career-specific programming.

In order to be eligible for the TIRF program, you must be between 12-19 years of age and be able to show ONE of the following:

  • attend a TIRF High School
  • reside in one of Toronto’s neighborhood improvement areas
  • demonstrate financial need (determined by a case-by-case basis)

Subsidized fees for Club Rugby

TIRF is committed to eliminating financial barriers to play. Eligible players can have their yearly club membership fees subsidized by TIRF. Your $40 TIRF membership covers your player registration with Rugby Canada; insurance; and levies.

Representative Rugby Bursaries

This bursary program allows U18 players to try out for Provincial Rugby 7s and Rugby 15s teams. Bursaries are also provided to qualifying players to play at a provincial level.

TIRF Rising Stars enhanced Rugby development program

An enhanced training and leadership development that supports a pathway to competitive play.

Specialty Rugby player development clinics

Specific player development training and workshops hosted by national and international rugby players and alumni through out the season.

Coaching & Referee Certification

TIRF offers NCCP/World Rugby Coach Certification and training for members.

GTHA & International Rugby playing opportunities

U16 & U18 players can join the TIRF Rugby7s Team to participate in provincial and international tournaments.

Internships, Co-Ops & Summer Employment

TIRF provides an environment that fosters learning. TIRF has supported college and university students achieve their requirements for graduation. In addition, TIRF provides a six to eight week summer employment opportunity for student athletes to facilitate and execute TIRF’s city-wide Community Rugby Program.

Tickets to international test matches

TIRF provides complimentary tickets for members to experience world-class rugby at test matches in the city.
