January 10, 2024 (Langford, BC) – From a pool of 2,200 participants across the country who competed in the 2023 RBC Training Ground program, three Canadian rugby players have been selected to the top 30 list and will receive support to help them each achieve their athletic dreams.
Evaluated on their speed, power, endurance, strength and overall potential, Julia Omokhuale, Kiki Idowu and Alice Théberge will now have access to funding, coaching and mentorship as part of the 2023 roster of 30 RBC ‘Future Olympians”.
Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, Kiki Idowu spent the 2023 U SPORTS rugby season with the UBC Thunderbirds in Vancouver. In her first year of eligibility, the back row was part of a Thunderbird squad that claimed their fourth-straight Canada West conference title in 2023.
What is RBC Training Ground?
RBC Training Ground is a talent identification and athlete funding program designed to find young athletes with Olympic potential and provide them with the resources they need to achieve their podium dreams.
With the belief that high-performance sports should be accessible to all talented and qualified athletes who have the will to compete, this program travels the country searching for athletes between the ages of 14 and 25 who will fuel the Canadian Olympic pipeline.
