Minor Rugby Programs – Rookie Rugby
TIRF uses a fun, safe (non-contact), inclusive version of rugby for it’s two minor rugby programs. Thanks to the Rookie Rugby Curriculum that is familiar, easy to adopt and based on physical literacy, introducing rugby skills at an early age is simple. Rookie Rugby is perfect for summer camps, groups, schools and community centres that may be looking to add new activities because it can be played indoors or outdoors, encourages physical activity and strong team dynamics, and focuses on having fun. You can view and download the entire curriculum here.
Rookie Rugby Demonstrations
Each summer, from May to August, TIRF’s Rookie Rugby certified instructors provide introductory rugby to thousands of kids through our program partners at drop-in programs, community groups, in schools, and camps. If you are interested in scheduling a demonstration, please visit our booking page.
Rookie Rugby House Leagues
After a brief introduction to rugby through our Rookie Rugby program, children are provided with an opportunity to continue playing. TIRF runs four free house leagues in neighbourhoods across the city during the summer. These leagues provide a weekly opportunity to play, be active, and meet new friends.
